The
Anderson County DARE Kid graduates of Slocum Elementary 5th grade
participated in the “Walk a Mile and Be Drug Free” event sponsored by Blue Cross
and Blue Shield of Texas to celebrate their contribution of $1000.00 to the
Anderson County DARE Program this school year. Great job 5th grade
and many thanks to the Palestine Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas office for
their continued support.
Spring Break is the week of March 17-21.
The
Softball team will play Lovelady at Slocum Monday, March 17 at 6:00 and at
Grapeland Thursday, March 20 at 4:00. They will play at Slocum against Latexo on
March 24 at 6:00.
The
JV Baseball team will play a double header at Douglass on Monday, March 17
beginning at 1:00 and on March 31 against Diboll at Slocum.
The
Varsity Baseball team will be in action on Tuesday, March 18 at Cayuga at 6:00,
Friday, March 21 against Neches at Slocum at 6:00, and again on Tuesday, March
25 at Trinidad at 6:00.
High
School Academic UIL will be March 28 and 29 at Angelina College in Lufkin. The
writing and computer application events will be Friday and all other events will
be held Saturday.
Slocum ISD will be accepting nomination for the K-12 gifted and Talented Program
through April 30, 2008. The Gifted and Talented Program identifies and serves
gifted students in grades K-12. Nominations for the program are accepted from
parents, teachers, and community members. Nomination forms may be obtained from
the principal’s office located at 5765 East State highway 294, Elkhart, Texas
75839 or from Sherry Wortham, GT Coordinator for the district, 903-478-3624.
